Your parrots cage should be a safe space that it enjoys being in and out of. When buying a cage for your bird, there are things to consider.

1.  What “style” cage do you want- do you want a cage with a play top or able to open at the top, etc?
2. Do you like the way the door opens- this could make it easier or more difficult when cleaning & adding toys.
3. Is the cage the appropriate size for your bird- will you bird have enough space to move & stretch freely and have toys in their cage?
4. The material the cage is made out of is also important- some metals are toxic to birds.
5. A pull out tray is a nice feature to have on the cage as it will make cleaning easy.
6. Is the bar spacing safe for your bird- if the bar spacing is too big, your bird could try and escape and get their body (or at least their head) wedged in between the bars.
7. Does the cage have a stand and wheels- this will make moving the cage around much easier.

Remember that your bird must spend at least an hour out of the cage per day.
