A Fight for Life from the Brink of Death
Your Support Prevents Suffering Through Veterinary Outreach
Meet Oliver Twist, a young puppy who has already faced more hardship than most. Oliver was surrendered to the TEARS Mobile Clinic from an under-resourced community, unwanted and in dire condition. He was on the brink of death.
When Oliver arrived, he was severely infested with ticks, fleas and worms, which had drained his blood, leaving him dangerously anaemic with a critically low red blood cell count. His tiny body was cold, suffering from hypothermia and severe malnutrition. He was weak, starved and terrified. For weeks, he had endured these complications, edging closer and closer to organ failure and death.
Oliver’s symptoms were entirely preventable. If he had received proper parasite control and nutrition, he wouldn’t have suffered so immensely. But fate brought him to the TEARS Veterinary Hospital just in time. He received urgent treatment: deworming, tick and flea eradication and a life-saving blood transfusion.
The next few days were critical for Oliver Twist’s recovery. He needed constant care and monitoring to ensure he pulled through. Thanks to the dedicated care he received, Oliver has made an incredible recovery and is thriving. This 4-month-old pup has transformed from a frightened, malnourished pup into a sweet, gentle and intelligent boy with an endearing nature. Our rehabilitation partner – Hill’s Pet Nutrition – is aiding his recovery, ensuring he grows up big and strong. Oliver is good with kids, loves playing with other dogs, and has a penchant for cuddling in laps and following his humans around. He just needs you to complete his rags to riches story.
